I have been Type 1 for 18 years. Whenever I start to feel sorry for myself I just think how thankful there is insulin to keep me alive. It could be worse. I have been on the Omnipod insulin pump for 3 years. It took me a couple of years to even consider a pump but I wouldn’t change it. I love the omnipod. I have better control and not as many lows as before.
Question 2: Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
There are always people telling me that I can’t eat something because I am diabetic. I love to educate people about diabetes and the difference between Type 1 and Type 2.
Question 5: How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
I am a stronger person since being diagnosed.
