I’m Sophie and I’m 12. I don’t like diabetes. I have had it for 3 years now and I still ain’t doing my injections and things right but it takes a lot of getting use to and it is hard. People say to me all the time “oh that’s easy!” Trust me, ignore it, but stay strong and we can beat this thing!
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
“When your low don’t you give insulin and I think it would be easy to have diabetes”what I said:“um for a low I drink lucazade and if that’s what you think then…yeah”
Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
Yeah this girl in my class said I can’t climb the rock climbing wall
She got half way up and I got to the top😂
How do you inspire others?
I try to make sure they know there not alone and always get to the top of your dreams even know thing can get in the way.
Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.
I used to be a very active girl but since I started diabetes I had become some one who didn’t want to talk for 3 years. Then when I started secondary school my friends helped me begin a social life and I’m just like I used to be! I’m active I hang out with my friends and I do most anything.
Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
100 regular sized ducks I like to take my time and tackle 1 thing at a time
