My name is Savannah, people call me Savvy. I was diagnosed one year, one month, and 5 days after my baby brother Peyton was diagnosed.
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
Does it hurt? No, makes me giggle.
Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
Yes, I was told by some teammates on my cheer team I couldn’t, and I did because I am bigger then my diabetes!
How do you inspire others?
By staying positive and showing people that my diabetes will not hold me back.
Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.
It has changed my whole life. I’ve already had a taste of the good life. But it’s one day at a time. My mom says we live by the grace of God, one finger poke and shot at a time.
How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
I am more mature, even at 6, I deal with more then most adults.
