Nada

This is Nada (21 years) from Alexandria , Egypt
I’ve beed diagnosed with type 1 diabetes for almost 19 years now so I don’t know how to live without insulin injections but this was never an obstacle to stop me from achieving whatever I want in my life . Especially that I was a hypoglycemia patient .
3 years ago , I started to put a list of the places I want to visit each year.
-It started with St.Catherine monastery in Egypt ( 1st image ) , and I’ve to say it was the my first trip without parents and friends ( kinda a solo one ) and I’ve managed to get through these 3 days and climbing the mountain and taking care of my BGLs.
-The second one was also in Egypt and it was a totally solo trip , my goal this time was wady weshwashy safari (2nd image ) And I’ve to say I was proud of myself not experiencing any hypo/hyperglycemic episodes but also I’d to check regularly my BGLs .
-My last trip was a weeks ago, and it was one of the most challenging places, living conditions as well as circumstances regarding my insulin. I went to Tanzania to work as a volunteer in one of the hospitals there and I’ve to say that I was always concerned with the high temperature and my insulin as well as they didn’t have fridges in all the places I went to as well as it was a trip of 6 weeks time. My glucometer’s battery went off in my second week and I couldn’t find a battery that matched the device. So, I’d to depend on my senses whether the glucose levels were low or high and I managed to reach my destination Zanzibar Island (3rd image) where I really had A LOT of fun. Thanks to a friend of mine and my family who were supporting me till the end of the trip.
❤❤This post is just to tell the diabetics all over the world that diabetes is not an obstacle, I do know a lot of you are facing a lot of stress and problems in their life and careers and wish they were normal people but the thing is, THAT’S A FACT WE SHOULD OVERCOME AND LIVE IT WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT SO WE’D BETTER LIKE IT AND BENEFIT FROM IT. ❤❤
