The day I found out that I was diagnosed with diabetic type 2 I was upset with myself but in reality I can’t blame myself for anything. I was feeling depressed with anger but on the other hand it made me realize that I needed to do something better for my health. So I got to say thank you for leading me in a direction that that I needed to be. If it wasn’t for me to find out that I was diagnosed with diabetes I think I wouldn’t be where I’m at now.
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
How did I become a diabetic or how did I get it. I always told them that it’s a genetic thing. I told people the symptoms that you get like thirsty, hungry, feeling tired, etc.
How do you inspire others?
The way I inspire others is to stay healthy and watch what I eat. I tell them all the time there is no fun being a diabetic person. I stay positive in anyway I can for others and put on a smile like nothing happened.
Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.
Diabetes has effected me in a lots of ways. I’m more conscious of what I eat. How I take control like checking my glucose and taking my medications on time. It sometimes make me feel depressed with anxieties and mood change but sometimes I don’t feel the love I need and there are days I feel unwanted but I know my husband is there for me all the time.
