I’m a junior in high school at a Health Sciences Academy. I dance, surf, run, work, and volunteer. When I am older, I plan to attend medical school then go on to trauma surgery. I am currently on the omnipod and dexcom and love them both because they allow me to stay active.
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
“If you have diabetes, then how do you not eat and not starve?” I looked them straight in the eye, took a bite of food and said “magic”.
Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
I have been told I cannot become a trauma surgeon. However, I am currently in a Health Sciences Academy, play sports, and am on an omnipod and dexcom. I know I can become whatever I want, it’ll just be a little more challenging.
How do you inspire others?
My little sister has recently been diagnosed with diabetes also, so I let her practice giving me shots and pricking my finger. I also make sure to be a great role model so that she remains healthy.
Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
1 horse sized duck cause at least you can keep track of it!
