My life as a type 1 diabetic is like being as normal as anyone, but with a lot of commitment to stay healthy. As a child did everything a healthy child does. I played a lot of sports, danced and had a normal school life. As a teenager and young adult it was no different. I went to college, finished a biology degree and then went to the school of medicine. Later become a pediatrician. I married twice and am mother of two healthy kids. Two months ago started with insulin pump and love it! I practice martial arts 5 times a week, Zumba, eat healthy and now almost 46 y/o I’m healthier, stronger and happy.

What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?

Your diabetes got so bad that you needed an insulin pump?

Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
Someone once told me I couldn’t have kids.

How do you inspire others?
Staying healthy, exercise hard.

How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
Prove I can do anything and everything definitely has made me stronger.

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
