Ok here’s my story: It was thanksgiving weekend of 2014, and I was being lazy, getting tons of water, using the bathroom a lot, so we noticed all of this I think on the 22nd or so my parents (my dad has type 2) checked my blood with my dad’s monitor and it said high. Every time. So we went to the hospital at like 8:00 pm and got checked in from there. When the put in the IV I was like listing off things I want for Christmas and they had to stick a needle in me 3 times! I wasn’t cry more like smiling of how cool I was with all of this considering it was my first time! So next day and I finally got to eat and use the bathroom. And it took FOREVER, to just check my blood and stuff so I was mad 😂. They gave me my first shot and everything and I’m thinking to myself ‘wow I have to do this for the rest of my life’. I was sad a couple of days after the hospital but yeah. So 2 months later I had celiac where I’m allergic to glutine (it suckssss). And finally on July 8 of 2015 I got my pump!!!😉 first one to get animas vibe in my doctors office!!!!! So yes, can’t wait till the future!

And that’s it 😊

What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
Do you have to switch out the pump you use? 😂

Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
Um yes. I was getting my athletics papers and one of the doctors, yes a doctor, told me that It would be extremely hard and I can reconsider but I haven’t.

How do you inspire others?
My dad thinks about me when he works out. He calls me his hero. He thinks how I’m stronger for what I do.

Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.
It really is hard sometimes. Everyone I spend the night with one of my friends I always have to check my blood, enter carbs in my pump, text my mom cause shes always scared for me. Haha but my friends always ask me to check their blood for some reason??? They’re weird.

How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
It really has made me more independent and it affected me how I am towards a person. I can change moods in an instant if not careful.

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
