What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
Q: If there was a cure for diabetes would you take it?
A: I personally wouldn’t, having diabetes has shaped to become the person that I am today. If it wasn’t for diabetes I would of never of met the amazing staff and life long friends at rotary sunshine camp (a camp for kids with diabetes). Being a diabetic has taught me a lot and made me a stronger person.
Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
Every single day I prove to my peers that I can do anything and everything I set my mind to. Diabetes has never set me back and I have always had the mind set that I can do everything that everyone else does.
How do you inspire others?
After I was a camper at the summer camp for diabetics I became a counselor and helped hundreds of kids realize that this disease doesn’t have to control their future and they can do anything they set their minds to.
Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.
To be honest I have never let me affect me, I have always worked through the ups and downs and used it as a learning experience. I have been dealt with this for a reason and have made it 19 years.
How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
I would absolutely not be the person I am today if it wasn’t for being a diabetic. I am mentally and physically a strong person and take time every day to teach others and educate the people around me about this disease.
Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
100 regular sized ducks 🙂
