I found out I had diabetes when I was in a minor car accident about 5 months ago. I went to the hospital they did some blood work. and they told me that my a1c levels were abnormal. So I asked what that meant. He said, “you have diabetes”. I had no idea how to feel. Recently I have been in control of my sugars so much better. Thanks to eating right, daily exercise, taking my insulin when necessary, etc. I have become a stronger and more mature person since my diagnosis.

How do you inspire others?
I stay positive day in and day out. I can’t help but be happy with my life. Yes I have diabetes but honestly it’s just another obstacle in my life  that I will continue to climb over. I know I can control it. And I have.

Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.
Diabetes made me stronger. At school when I told my nurse and my teachers. Everyone looked at me differently and it really made me feel like an outsider. But I learned to just accept it and I noticed less of how people looked at me. I feel that made me stronger

How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
Mentally: I am a stronger person.
Physically: I have become a healthier and more motivated person
Emotionally: I have been a little bit of a mess. But I’ve learned to control my emotions and try to love day by day.

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
One horse sized duck. Lol. Why?
