My name is Kelsea. I show beef cattle at the county and state level, along with pigs, am an officer on my school’s FFA chapter, and a member of a 4-H club. I’m in my school’s swing and concert choir, along with the drama department too. Did I also mention that I’m a diabetic?

What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
I’ve been asked about my insulin pump “Is that a walkman?” my answer was simply “Only if music could literally keep me alive”

Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
No one has really told me that I can’t do something because of diabetes, because ever since a young age I’ve been proving people wrong. I’ve done figure skating, swimming, the county livestock judging team, karate, and am currently doing livestock showing and performing on stages for choirs.

How do you inspire others?
Well, at my county fair, I had just gotten my steer, Junior, ready for his show when my bg dropped to 34 mg/dl 3 classes before I was supposed to show. After drinking a bunch of lemonade I was able to go into my showmanship class and get 3rd place.

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
I would rather not fight either, they both sound pretty scary to me.
