Hey everyone! My name is Kelly and I have been a type 1 for almost 17 years. Being diabetic has taught me so much and although it is extremely frustrating at times, I honestly would not change it. I know so much more about my body and feel as though I am actually healthier than I would have been without diabetes. Diabetes has helped me to be aware and has shown me that although a person may look fine on the outside, we never know what he or she may be struggling with on the inside. My diabetes has given me a passion to serve and help others and to bring encouragement to all who may need it. To all my fellow diabetics, keep pushing on! We got this!
How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
Since my diagnosis, I have been fascinated with the human body and how it functions. You never realize how important something truly is until it stops functioning. Diabetes has given me the passion to help others. I am currently in the process of going to school to become a nurse practitioner. I’ve been blessed to have wonderful doctors and nurses along my diabetic journey, and it is my hope that I can one day provide the same exceptional care to anyone who may need it.
Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
Definitely one horse-sized duck.
