I’m a strong T1D with 21 years under my belt. I have not and will not give up this fight. Having this disease doesn’t define me as a person, and I work harder to keep myself alive than most people understand.
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
Did you ingest too much sugar as kid?
Is your disease contagious?
Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
Yes most of my life, sports, activities, food. I’ve gone sky diving and have lived an amazing full life.
How do you inspire others?
Staying positive. Not giving up on myself with bad days and glucose numbers that are bouncing around. I’ve kept myself out of the hospital since my diagnoses.
Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.
I’ve kept myself healthy and alive for 21 years so I’d say that’s an accomplishment.
How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
Diabetes has taught me life is short and to fight for your time here on earth. Show everyone this disease isn’t life ruining.
Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
Horse sized duck!
