I’m a type 1 diabetic. I’m risking it all to chase my dream of becoming a champion MMA fighter for a big promotion. The problem is my glucose shoots higher then the 300 range every time I step in the ring. I do pretty well but I’ve been told once I should stop competing by a paramedic after my fight because it’s so dangerous. There wasn’t one second I thought about quitting. I believe diabetes was a gift. It Will make me a stronger person and I’m more dedicated then ever. I want to prove to anyone diagnosed with diabetes it doesn’t have to hold you back. I babysit my little brother who has down syndrome as a side job and I hope he looks up to me if he has the same problem one day. Any support and views will be appreciated and very helpful!

Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.
During my fights my adrenaline shoots my glucose past the 300 range. I tried taking insulin before the fight but it failed. I get cotton mouth and my body feels like it’s completely drained so I try my hardest to finish the fight quickly. The last two fights I’ve done had the paramedics shocked because they were surprised I didn’t pass out.

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
One horse sized duck. I wouldn’t hurt it bad and I’d make it my pokemon.
