I don’t remember a day I didn’t have diabetes. I was diagnosed at 1 years old with Type one. When I was younger my blood sugars were all over the place and they thought I would stop growing at that age which was when I was twelve. Thank God I grew these past 3 years. With time I learned to control my blood sugars. Now, I have an insulin pump which makes diabetes a whole lot easier. I still have a hard time but I have hope they will find a cure one day. Every diabetic knows living with this chronic illness is beyond difficult but you must stay strong so you can stay healthy. I’ve cried so many times about this while I was younger but I never gave up. I know for a fact that one day I will say “I used to have diabetes.”
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
I’ve been asked once if I can still take showers because of my insulin pump. I responded with laughter and explained it to them.
