Hi I’m Jamie Barnes and I’ve lived with diabetes for 11 years now! I’m 16 and was diagnosed at age 5. Yes it’s hard sometimes but that’s life. Nothing’s easy and as long as you try your best diabetes can’t stop you from doing anything ever! So, don’t give up just keep trying!
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
Did a spider bite you like in Spider-man And gave you diabetes?
My reply was no I got it for no reason. I was a fit young lad and I just got it because that’s the way life can be. It’s not the nicest but I’d rather have it than someone else have to live with it.
But now I wish I had said ye a huge spider bit me! Haha it would of sounded so much cooler.
Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
No because everyone who knows me knows that nothing will stop me achieving what I want to achieve
How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
It keeps you fit because you can’t eat loads of sugar and fatty foods and you have to stay healthy otherwise it’s hard to control.
Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
