I’m from the UK, so hope I can share my story with the US. At first I found having diabetes okay, managed to control my blood sugars well. I helped other people with diabetes by taking part in meetings with younger children and sharing my experiences. However, after a while I found it more and more difficult to cope. I spiralled into a state of not taking my insulin at all. With the help of my family, friends and diabetes team I am now back on track. I have learned to love my diabetes and accept it as part of me. I’m proud to be a diabetic and want to inspire more people to be proud too.
