I have had diabetes for three years and I’m searching for a cure! I play volleyball and don’t let diabetes get the best of me.  I still eat the food everyone else eats, but balance it to manage my blood sugar. Diabetes makes me feel unique, but also comfortable that I’m not the only one that has it.

What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?

When I was wearing a two-piece bathing suit at the pool and a little girl asked me, “Why is there a sticker on your stomach?” I told to the little girl that it was something that gave me a type of medicine (or hormone) that helps keep me alive.
