I’ve was diagnosed at age 18 right before Christmas. I was given an Animas pump almost right away. So, not much changed in my life. I continue to coach soccer. I also bowl several nights a week. I became an EMT at age 21 and have helped patients I met deal with their diagnosis a little easier.
How do you inspire others?
I work as an EMT and also worked in an elementary school. I come across people of all ages with diabetes and I just do what I can to show them that diabetes is an illness but not who we are. You can still do anything you want.
