Well obviously I am type one diabetic. I was diagnosed September 14, 2009. I strive to raise awareness in my community. I’ve been using a pump since 2010. I’ll be attending college next year at Metropolitan University of Denver this fall.

Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
Yes, with eating anything. I tell them I can eat anything but 2 things. Poison and cookies with poison.

How do you inspire others?
I use my Instagram to make others see that they are beautiful and they should love life.

Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.
Diabetes has made me mature faster than others. This has caused me to become president of 2 school organizations, choir council and drama club.

How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
Mentally it made me stronger and improved my math skills.
Physically it makes me self conscious but I see it as a way to improve myself.
Emotionally I’ve become more stable and I can work them out before acting upon it.

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
Neither because birds are scary. I’d much rather fight a dinosaur.
