Edwin Jr.

My brother Edwin was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was almost 3 years old. My mother noticed that he was using the bathroom a lot so she decided to bring him to the doctors. It was so early that they couldn’t even diagnose him, especially since he wasn’t even 3 yet. It was very hard for us to make the adjustments, especially for my brother. He was the first diabetic in our family. It broke our hearts having to give him insulin shots at least 4 times a day.
Now he is 4 years old, and he is doing a lot better. I’m not gonna lie, he has his off days but hey no one is perfect. He is more healthy then most none diabetic people and is living life like a regular 4 year old. He goes to pre school and gets treated like any other child but just needs a little extra care. He has a lot of friends and is very loved. He’s had an omnipod since March 2014 and it is very helpful. We are so proud of how strong he is and we are very blessed that God has taken care of him. We want him to know that just because he’s diabetic it doesn’t mean that he won’t be successful.
