I was the first to be diagnosed with type 1 in my family. At 9 years old, I became so very aware of the significance of taking care of one’s health. After remaining “in the closet”, I became involved with the American Diabetes Association as well as local support groups. It made such a difference in my life. My only daughter, Madison was diagnosed with type 1 in March of this year, at the age of 10. As devastating as that was, I have and continue to remind her that diabetes will not defeat her, just as it hasn’t defeated me! We won’t allow it to. Sending the same energy and fight to those living with this condition! We are too Sweet For Sugar!!
