I had gestational diabetes the last 2 months of my pregnancy with my daughter. Once she was born the doctors told me I only had a 2% chance of ever developing the disease. 6 months later I was down to a size 2 & able to down a king size iced tea before exiting the drive thru at BK. I walked int the MD office & asked to be checked & sure enough, the disease was back. The doctors also told me my children only had about 5% more chance than a child of non-diabetic parents of ever developing the disease. At the age of 6 my oldest son had the disease. I tend to see the glass 1/2 full and see the good in everything so I am grateful for the disease. The positive part is that I get to take really good care of myself, much more so than when I was not diabetic. Now that my son is an adult I see him taking much better care of himself also. It is somewhat of s blessing for us if you look really hard, way deep down at the core of it.
