For years I used to live in denial about my diabetes. I didn’t watch what I was eating and didn’t test or take my insulin like I should. I became extremely unhealthy to the point I went into DKA a few times. Then some serious complications started happening. One of which affected my heart and now I have a pacemaker due to damage done to the nerves around my heart. I had really bad peripheral neuropathy in my feet and legs to the point there were days that I couldn’t walk. I really didn’t start caring about anything until I met my husband. Having already been married once before I was leary of getting into another relationship due to what had happened to my ex. I took a chance and its the best chance that I could have ever taken. We have been married for almost 7 years now. During this time, I have brought my A1C from a 10 to a 5.6. I have reversed everything but the fact that I have a pacemaker. I have also became a NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) certified personal trainer as well as a diabetic fitness trainer. I run a Facebook page (Diabetic Fear Fitness) as well as a Instagram (@ariesirongoddess) that post for awareness of diabetes, as well as motivation and fitness related things. I have also had two children during this time as well, which is something I thought I would never be able to experience.
