I am a proud mom of 2..my son is 18 and my daughter is 14..I have a martial arts history that ended due to ACL tear on a kickboxing class..which led to surgery..I was extreme when it came to exercise..I had a series of unfortunate events shortly after that..one day while in hospital a Dr. asked if I was a diabetic? I had no idea why he was asking. Shortly after I saw a new family dr. and after a series of blood tests..it was affirmative that I was a diabetic!!! I cried in my car for literally 3o mins…after researching I figured it would all be okay..I have amazing support from my husband, children and co-workers.
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
If I was diabetic because I gained weight?
Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
Im still trying to prove them wrong..I’m losing weight…lol
How do you inspire others?
I have just joined a 5k race for the summer with my family..Every little bit that I learn about diabetes I teach my family and those I interact with..its no ones responsibility but my own to teach about what I need to survive..I cant expect them to know..
Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.
It has affected the way I eat and look at food…the insulin has really helped however I still feel broken at times.
How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
I push everyday to do more..eat healthier and close my eyes when I see my favorite sweets..lol
Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
