I was diagnosed in 2011. I still play sports with diabetes. I use needles. Started with a really high a1c when I got diabetes and now at 7.3.
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
“Did you eat to much sugar to get diabetes?” “I did nothing wrong to myself and it just happens
Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?
I have been told by a sub nurse that I can eat no sugar with my lunch and had to prove her wrong
How do you inspire others?
My parents always told me to keep working to get a pump! I always believed but when it came time for me to get a pump my dad wanted to wait a few more years.
How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?
I have always had to be on my brothers team in sports because only he new what to do if I went low and something like that. I asked my parents one year of me being alone if I have trouble doing it on my own then I will be on his team. Well all I can say is I have never been on my brothers team again.
Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?
Umm one horse sized duck. He would have no hands so if I just laid on it, it could do nothing.
