What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?

You’re so healthy how are you diabetic!? Me: Being diabetic doesn’t mean I was ever unhealthy. Being diabetic actually helps me be more healthy.

Has anyone told you that you couldn’t do something due to your diabetes, and you proved them wrong?

I was told I couldn’t keep my blood sugars under control being as active as I am and with how much I ate. I still eat more than anyone in my family workout everyday and work and have amazing blood sugars.

How do you inspire others?

I don’t turn away from people if they have questions. It doesn’t bother me if people ask me about my diabetes. I’d rather inform someone who doesn’t know so maybe they can help someone understand in the future to.

Tell us a story about how diabetes has affected you.

I used to be a extremely active person and never slowed down for anything always go go go. And now that I have been diagnosed with T1D I have to make sure to take time for myself and slow down and take care of my blood sugars. It was extremely hard to do in the begining but I’m getting better.

How has diabetes contributed to forming you into the person you are today? Mentally, physically, or emotionally?

It hasn’t really changed me much other than I eat a lot healthier and workout less intensely than I used to.

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 regular sized ducks?

100 regular ducks!
