Hello! My name is Andra. I’m from little country called Estonia. I’ve been Type 1 Diabetic for 10 years. Right now it’s exactly half of my life. Crazy to think it’s been so long already. I’m not going to lie, it’s been a rough time full of ups and downs, tears and joy. Lots and lots of highs and lows. But I’ve never been alone in this – I have my family, very supportive friends and of course this amazing diabetes community! I’ve walked a long road, but there’s even longer road ahead of me and I’m not scared. Bring it on Diabetes!
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
“You don’t look like diabetic” – I was kind of speechless when one of my high school classmate said it after I’ve told her that I have T1D.
“I would never be aible to give myself a shot that often.” – when people say that, it always makes me laugh but mad at the same time, because it is the only way to keep T1D alive. We don’t have a choice. We are like human pin cushions, luckily you get used to it really quickly.
