I am a wife, mother, yoga teacher and student, and a fierce fundraiser for type 1 diabetes research.
What is the weirdest question you’ve been asked about your diabetes, and how did you respond?
As an adult-onset type 1 diabetic, I have had many people tell me that I must have be type 2. I have an autoimmune disease that can strike anyone at any time and is unpreventable and irreversible (as of now!) Not to mention that children with type 1 have this funny way of growing up and becoming adults….with type 1….hence the frustration with the assumption that I have type 2!
How do you inspire others?
I have been inspired by my daughter, who was diagnosed when she was 5, and to this day she never, ever complains about t1d and there is oh so much one could complain about. But she doesn’t…So how could I?
