I was diagnosed with type 1 when I was 9 years old, I am now 21, on a pump, and truly believe that this blessing in disguise has made me the person I am today. I have done things that I don’t think I would ever have done without the confidence or maturity that I have developed since being diagnosed with type 1. I have studied abroad for 6 months in Argentina. I have tried new sports I didn’t have a passion for previously. I have fallen in love with diabetes summer camp, as a camper and now on my 5th year as a counselor.

The number 1 thing I can thank Diabetes for is my choice in career path. I am going to school right now to become an RN nurse. One day I hope to become a certified Diabetes educator and I can not wait for that day to come. One of the biggest things I think diabetics need in life is to surround themselves with other diabetics. Whether that be seeking others out at school, the instagram community, community groups or summer camp. For me I want it to be my lifetime mission and career.

Love you all!: )
