I am Amanda. I was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 1. I have never remembered a day where I didn’t have diabetes. And whether or not it is normal I had to struggle with depression and anxiety and lost my way in the world. I didn’t take care of myself like I’m suppose to. I then went on to realize the bigger picture. Diabetes does not make me. I am not my diabetes. My diabetes is me. With minimal help I found my way again. Although at times it seems like things will never get better it does. Hope is a little thing that goes a long way. Never abandon your hope. I now am going to college to hopefully one day be a nurse and specialize in pediatric diabetic nursing. After I do that I will then go on to get my degree to become a psychologist for people struggling with diabetes.
